Christopher W. Harris, D.O.
Dr. Harris is a board-certified Adult General Psychiatrist, and is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, and the North Carolina Psychiatric Association. He was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He graduated from East Carolina University earning two bachelor’s degrees – one with a double major in Biology and Philosophy, and the other in Neuroscience. Upon graduating from ECU with honors in 2007, he was selected for a two-year research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. In 2010, he began medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. After graduating from medical school, he was selected for psychiatry internship and residency for the U.S. Navy at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, where he was selected to be chief resident during his last year of residency. During his time at Walter Reed, he presented at multiple National conferences on various topics within mental health. He has served as an embedded psychiatrist with the United States Marine Corps Infantry at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, as well as the Marine Aircraft Wing in Beaufort, South Carolina. At his last billet in the Navy he served as the Department Head and Medical Director for the Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation Program at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune before completing his time in Active Duty Service in 2021. After leaving active duty service, he worked as an adult psychiatrist at Coastal Carolina Neuropsychiatric Center, where he specialized in adult general psychiatry, addiction and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). During his tenure there, he reached a leadership role as the Clinic Administrative Director, and was also an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry for Campbell University.
